Chocolate Midnight Cake

Hi guys! This recipe is an all time favourite of mine – it is actually the first ever cake I made independantly and my whole family absolutely loves it. It’s an incredibly easy and quick recipe and delicious with tea or coffee, or even ice cream when it’s  hot. Hope you like it! 🙂


Super moist and delicious!


  • 2 1/4 cups plain flour
  • 1 2/3 cups caster sugar
  • 2/3 cup melted butter
  • 3 eggs
  • 2/3 cups cocoa powder
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • Pinch of salt
  • Cold water


  1. Grease and flour 7″ round cake tin. Preheat oven to 190 degrees celsius.
  2. Sift together flour, salt, cocoa powder and baking powder in a bowl. In a seperate bowl beat the eggs and set aside.
  3. Cream together the butter and sugar in a large bowl. Slowly add the eggs while mixing continuously.
  4. Stir in the flour mixture, a little at a time. If mixture becomes stiff add a little cold water.
  5. Pour into mould and bake for 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the centre comes out clean. Let it cool before taking out of the mould. You can ice it with the icing of your choice. (I usually use store-bought 😛 )

I’m not 100% sure, but what I do know is making these cupcakes spiked with Blue Moon beer and topped with Orange Slice candies will certainly get you pointed in the right direction! I mean come on, made with beer and candy, these are truly “manly cupcakes” if  such a thing exists.


These little devils were quite popular with my husband to say the least. He is definitely a fan of craft beer, to the point that he actually has started brewing his own. The Beginning.

Well, here I go – blogging for the first time ever. I had been thinking about  starting a blog for quite some time but my lazy self would find it difficult to actually get around to doing it. Anyways, now that I’ve finally started, what’s better to write about than FOOD – a.k.a my passion.

During my childhood I had never been a fussy eater, unlike my brothers. I enjoyed whatever my mom gave me, to her great  relief. But, apart from the eating I was also interested in the cooking part. How a melange of different ingredients blended together to form the various delicacies always fascinated me.

Now as a teenager I find it difficult to spend time  in the kitchen, but whenever I can I make sure to give time to my passion. Either by discovering new recipes or practicing the old and  loved ones.

I am excited about my journey on  the  blogging highway. I will entertain you with my amateur recipes reviews and my kitchen accidents  and I will also share with you some recipes that are close to my heart. Apart from  foo: i will also talk about other topics that come to mind.  Adios  amigos! 🙂
